Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Tasks Are Way Too Hard

The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against several of the title's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced resorting to custom matches made via the Portal feature to complete them, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but while the majority merely grant outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of getting twelve from the forty-one primary weapons found within the game.

Several of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Task

One more community participant brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly a classic map at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

But when tackling the tasks in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply will never acquire the locked firearms.

For now, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these challenging in-game tasks, expecting a fairer player experience in coming revisions.
