Ange Postecoglou faced jeers from Nottingham Forest supporters during the recent match

Nottingham Forest head coach Ange Postecoglou maintains that external scrutiny regarding his position will not impact his methodology.

The team is without a victory in his initial half-dozen games since the Australian took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground.

A group of Forest fans shouted, "you'll be dismissed in the morning", at the former Tottenham and Celtic boss following Thursday's 3-2 Europa League loss at their ground to Midtjylland.

Postecoglou's Reaction to Pressure

Postecoglou, though, stated that the European title he won at Tottenham last season, prior to being sacked in the off-season, was evidence he does not let pressure to impact his management.

"It doesn't enter my head," he continued. "My responsibility involves making sure this team progresses and reaches a level where it can compete for titles," said Postecoglou.

"Should I begin setting deadlines to that or worry about what is occurring next week then I am not performing the role I have been assigned.

"I just don't think it is beneficial to anyone. At the end of the day, I have to focus on the environment, the training, the style of play, and as I said recently, I am still very, very strong in my belief that we are not too far away.

"Put it this way - I was aware I was being dismissed at Tottenham approximately three or four months before I did, but that didn't stop me from securing a trophy."

Career Background

The veteran coach moved to Spurs from Celtic in the previous year and fans at first embraced the Australian for his offensive playing style, with the London club ending up 5th in the English top flight during his first season.

Postecoglou's second term was challenging as Spurs finished 17th in the standings. He did, however, guide the team to their initial silverware in 17 years as they beat Manchester United in the Europa League championship match.

Present Circumstances

Forest visit Newcastle United on the weekend (14:00 BST).

Amid the unfavorable streak of results, there is no denying it has been a challenging beginning for Postecoglou.

And the numbers demonstrate just how poor Forest have been since his arrival.

Statistical Analysis

  • In Postecoglou's six matches, they have been beaten four times across three different competitions
  • No top-flight team has been defeated in as numerous games as Forest since his hiring
  • They have allowed thirteen scores - at a rate of 2.17 per game
  • Only Manchester United and Burnley have a worse defensive per game average than Forest since Postecoglou's arrival
  • Surprisingly, it is the 35th instance in which a top-flight manager has not secured a victory in their initial six matches in every tournament

Record Context

Paul Jewell maintains the record, having failed to win any of his first 27 games as Derby County manager in the 2007-2008 campaign.

Nuno was fired after just three matches of this season when Forest were tenth in the standings. They are currently seventeenth, having tied once and been defeated twice of their three domestic games under Postecoglou.

He is the initial full-time Forest coach in a century not to secure a victory in his first six fixtures.

Fan Perspective

This campaign should have been one of Nottingham Forest's finest in modern history. Entry into Europe for the initial occasion in 30 years, the strongest team this millennium and everyone at the club working towards the common goal.

Unexpectedly, at least for now, that has completely vanished out of the window. Nuno has left, performances have been poor and on Thursday night the stadium turned on the new manager Ange Postecoglou after just six games.

And yet it's typically classic Forest, a team that shifts from success to internal crisis like a novice motorist who fails to remain in a lane.

Upcoming Fixtures

Amid fixtures against the Magpies, Chelsea, Porto, the Cherries and the Red Devils approaching, it's quite difficult to predict whether he can turn it around before it becomes even more toxic.

But question any fan and they'll tell you the identical thing, it's never dull at Nottingham Forest.
